Once upon a time, deep beneath the ocean waves, there lived six mermaid sisters. The youngest among them was a curious and dreamy girl who longed for the world above the sea. Her heart yearned for the sights and sounds of the human realm, though she had never seen it herself.
One day, while visiting her grandmother, she heard tales of the surface world. She learned about tall ships, golden sunsets, and the mysterious land dwellers with their two legs. Her fascination grew stronger, especially when she discovered a statue of a prince in one of the stories.
Her grandmother told her that if she could earn an eternal soul like humans do, she would be able to ascend to their world. But this required making a deal with the sea witch, which came at a great cost. Determined, the little mermaid made her choice and sacrificed her beautiful voice for a pair of human legs.
On the prince's birthday, she emerged from the waves, captivating everyone with her grace and beauty. Though silent, she danced with him under the moonlight, and he fell in love with her. Yet, their happiness was short-lived as the prince married another.
Heartbroken but still hopeful, the little mermaid returned to the sea. As dawn broke, she saw her sisters appear with a magical knife. They offered her a chance to reclaim her old life, but she chose selflessness over her own desires. In that moment, her tears transformed into sea foam, and she ascended into the heavens, becoming a spirit of the air.
And so, even without a voice or a place among humans, her kindness and love shone brighter than ever before.
